SPEAK! ST. PETE – A Celebration of United Nations International Days is a highly-visible programming series developed to confront and deconstruct worldwide social issues while inspiring public dialogue throughout the City and beyond.
SPEAK! ST. PETE, supported by the United Nations Environment Programme, is a celebration of United Nations International Days. The series launches with four programs, each commemorating important United Nations supported International Days: World Water Day on March 22, Earth Day on April 21, Biological Diversity Day on May 22, and World Environment Day and World Ocean Day, June 5th through 8th.
Each program consists of accessible and entertaining events that stimulate public dialogue and raise awareness through critically acclaimed films, nationally recognized lecturers, stimulating panel discussions, live webcasts, and cultural performances. The SPEAK! ST. PETE – A Celebration of United Nation’s International Days series is presented by the newly formed St. Petersburg Environmental Research Center. The new Center seeks to find scientific and technological contributions to many of the Earth’s most pressing challenges. With each International Day program there will be more opportunities to learn of the good work of the St. Petersburg Environmental Research Center and its relationship to the topics of the International Day series.
SPEAK! ST. PETE – A Celebration of United Nation’s International Days is supported by the United Nations Environment Programme, Friends of the United Nations and the WHALE Center Global Healing Initiative. The series was developed by a consortium of institutions that includes: The WHALE Center Global Healing Initiative, Friends of the United Nations, the Mahaffey Theater at the Progress Energy Center, the Pier Aquarium, Eckerd College, Stetson University College of Law, the Patel Center for Global Solutions, and the International Oceans Institute – USA. Tickets to admit guests to all of the events for each of the celebrations will
be available for only $15; $50 for the series of four. Tickets can be purchased
at the Mahaffey Theater at the Progress Energy Center Box Office, all Ticketmaster
outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com,

in Tampa beginning February 17 at 12:00 noon.
